Paper Paper Paper!!

We got our blank invitations today and I couldn't be more excited. This is the actual first wedding purchase we've done and they came exactly how I wanted them to! We are doing a pocketfold invitation and bought them online from paperandmore.com. HIGHLY recommend them, very fast shipping and the cheapest paper products I've seen! I will post pictures as soon as I take them but we got a dark blue(navy) metallic pocketfold and envelope, metallic fairway (apple green)cardstock for the invite mat, white blank invites and #70 weight white paper for the inserts. We are cutting our own inserts and mats to save on paper and to use the scraps for other projects. Very happy with what we chose and can't wait to actually print them out! I've been playing around in Publisher with different invite layouts which has helped past the time.

On a side note, I called yesterday to book our church (first day that we could for 2010) and the coordinator at St James told us we have to wait until Jan 2 (my bday!) to book it due to issues on their end. Thankfully K and his family are parishioners so we get moved to the top of the list. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for June 12 at 3pm, maybe since I have to call on my bday its a good sign!
I've also asked 4 of my 5 bridesmaids to be in my wedding and everyone has said yes and they love the cards I made! Very exciting stuff!

Colors/Bridal Show

Our inspiration for our colors is a Granny Smith Apple. I really want to use them as decoration at our reception and in our centerpieces. Originally it was going to be apple green and chocolate but we've recently changed our minds to the same green but with navy and hints of fuchsia. The pink will mainly be in the flowers and ribbons, with navy being the main color and green as the accent. Very excited for these colors to come together throughout the next several months for our June 2010 wedding.

Also, went to a Bridal Show this past weekend. Not sure how helpful it was yet but at least I went to one. Got A LOT of reading material from vendors there, and have already trashed some of it. I did get some ideas from a few vendors there and got some look books from bridal shops. Best part was some cake samples that they had!

DIY bridesmaid cards

So I wanted a memorable way to ask my 5 bridesmaids to be in my wedding. I plan on doing all the paper goods myself so I thought why not make cards for them! It was really easy to do, all I did was get navy cardstock in size 8 1/2 x 11 (JoAnns, on sale 5 for $1) , silver gel pen, scrapbook stickers ('Beautiful Bridesmaids', $1.74 at Target). I cut the paper in half width-wise to get 2 cards per sheet, and scored it down the middle. I placed the lettering along the bottom first, doing the bridesmaid first. After laying down the stickers, I wrote with the gel pen on the outside and inside. Once each was done, I placed in a hardcover book to make it lay flat. I also bought a pack of size A2 envelopes for them.

Boy askes girl. Girls says yes.

We were engaged on Oct 11, 2008 which is our 5 year anniversary. We went ring shopping a few times so I knew it was coming but no clue as to when/where/how/what. We went into the city for the night (hotel/dinner/etc) and after we checked in K asked if I wanted to take a walk down the lake to take some pics of the skyline. So we trek down Michigan Ave among the tourists and make it to Grant Park for some ice cream and pics with a stop at the Bean. He wants to continue further down the lake to Shedd, (with much complaining on my end due to the wrong shoes!) and on we go. We get to the lawn in front of the Shedd and K continues up on the grass to get some pics while I sit on the ledge people watching. He asks if I'll take a picture of us with the city in the back ground since I'm much better at that then he is. I comply and afterwards he says he has a question to ask me and I'm like what? He again says, he has a question for me and this time I realize what's happening and start to cry with my hands over my mouth. He gets down on one knee, tells me he loves me and wants to continue our journey together for the rest of our lives and asks if I'll marry him. Of course the answer is yes and over 3 weeks later, I'm still on Cloud 9 that it actually happened!

Hi there!

This is my attempt at a blog during my 20 month engagement talking about all things wedding related. We're planning a June 2010 wedding, date is TBD depending on the church availability. It will also be my place to vent about stresses involved in planning and paying for your own wedding :)
